Today we went to Richmond, VA and visited several sites.  Except that it is in Virginia (with its new governor), Richmond seemed like a nice city.

Our first stop was at the Poe Museum. It was a lovely bunch of old buildings, none of which we think Poe lived in.  They had lots of items from his past: his childhood bed, a chair he had, a staircase from a house he lived in, etc.

Our next stop was the Chimborazo Hospital.  The original hospital was gone and the museum about it was closed, but the park was lovely, but a little cool, in the 50's.

From there we went to see the Grand Kugel!

On to the Markel Building.  It was designed by Haigh Jamgochian and inspired by a baked potato wrapped in foil that was served to him at an American Institute of Architects' dinner. Just imagine what he would have done if someone had fed him pigs-in-a-blanket...

After the modern building we went to see Agecroft Hall and Gardens.  It is a Tudor manor that was built in the late 15th Century in England and brought to Richmond piece-by-piece in 1926.

Not sure what this was supposed to be!

Two beautiful beds, one in the kid's room and the other in the woman's room.

I want one of these in my next house.  A room for the musicians to play above the library and entertainment room.

There were 8 different gardens; would love to see them more in bloom.  They also had a Turf Maze and and a Bowling Green.

They even had a still house out near the gardens.

Saw this on the way out and I want it!  Maybe Dick will get me one for Christmas.
