I haven't had a chance to update this blog.  We are home now.  We had thought about stopping in Winchester but decided to just go home.  Winchester is close enough to do a long day trip. Maybe next year we can do our trip around the inside of the country.

Today was the first warm day in a long time.  We only had one thing we were going to do today, well it tuned out to be two things.  Dick took me to a cement statuary place.  We had been there, years ago, because I have always wanted to go to weird places and had read that it was one of the biggest cement store places.  Hope you can enlarge this and see what he says. After that we drove to Quicksburg to see American Celebration on Parade.  On the way there we stopped in New Market for lunch.  I had my first hush-puppy! It was very good, also had fried green beans which weren't bad.  Drove on to Quicksburg and found out that the Celebration was closed for the season.  Bummer!  We did get to see a few things out on the lawn. On our way back we saw a big flea market, so we decided to stop and check it out. It was very big and had lots of outside tables, too, which weren't open today. Don't know what this is! If you want Confederate sheets, here i...

Today we went to see Luray Caverns.  We have been to several caverns and caves and to some extent they are all alike.  Even so I find everyone amazing.  It is hard to imagine what it would be like to be the first to find one.  That would be especially true before modern flashlights. The organ was disappointing. We donated some coins including a Susan B. Anthony coin. There were several dollar bills in there too. These are called the fried eggs - where two stalagmites were broken off.   It used to be considered good luck to rub them, but they don't want you to rub them now. Looks like a lizard to me. Going into the toy store (we were looking for a back scratcher) and saw this guy.  I guess that after seeing the woman in the theater and this, they are really having trouble getting workers. There was also a car museum at the caverns so we went there too.  It was very interesting, even for me. Surrey with fringe on the top. A Morgan, Dick had a friend who ...

We are finally at a KOA that seems to have good service, yeah!  TV isn't very good, but we can watch the news. On our way to here we were able to stop in Staunton.  It is often hard in the RV to find a place to park in a city but we did and it was close to where we wanted to be.  Our first stop was the Camera Heritage Museum.  If you have any interest in cameras you would like this place. Picture of Leni Riefenstahl next to her camera. On the way to see the Blackfriars Playhouse we pasted an old theater with this in the front. Unfortunately the Playhouse was closed for the day.  It was built like one of Shakespeare's theaters, not obviously the Globe.  We may go back, if we have time.  Not sure if there is any significance for this.   Our next stop was the Frontier Culture Museum.  There are areas that show the different cultures that came to America.  The first showed a village from Africa. Me being me, I had to take a picture of the Af...
