I haven't had a chance to update this blog.  We are home now.  We had thought about stopping in
Winchester but decided to just go home.  Winchester is close enough to do a long day trip.


Maybe next year we can do our trip around the inside of the country.

Today we went to Richmond, VA and visited several sites.  Except that it is in Virginia (with its new governor), Richmond seemed like a nice city. Our first stop was at the Poe Museum. It was a lovely bunch of old buildings, none of which we think Poe lived in.  They had lots of items from his past: his childhood bed, a chair he had, a staircase from a house he lived in, etc.     Our next stop was the Chimborazo Hospital.  The original hospital was gone and the museum about it was closed, but the park was lovely, but a little cool, in the 50's.        From there we went to see the Grand Kugel! On to the Markel Building.  It was designed by Haigh Jamgochian and inspired by a baked potato wrapped in foil that was served to him at an American Institute of Architects' dinner. Just imagine what he would have done if someone had fed him pigs-in-a-blanket... After the modern building we went to see Agecroft Hall and Gardens.  It is a Tudor...
