It being Veterans Day I want to thank any of you reading this.

I forgot to mention yesterday that we went to the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  They didn't allow pictures so I don't have anything to show you.  That is probably the reason I forgot to mention it.  They had beautiful stuff but very expensive.  There was a ceramic raven I would have loved, but they wanted $79.00.

Today is our last day in North Carolina. We decided to drive over to Cherokee and see the museum there and maybe the casino.  I didn't take any pictures but the road we started on went through the town of  Cruso along East Fork Pigeon River.  During Tropical Depression Fred there was flooding that took out a great many houses and a camp ground.  All along the road houses were ruined.  Six people died.  It was a real mess.

While it was longer, we chose to take the Blue Ridge Parkway.  If you have never been on it, it is beautiful.  We had driven the northern part years ago but not this part.  It is a very windy road and you can't drive very fast.  There are lots of scenic pull off and I thought I'd show you some of the best!

When we got to Balsam we decided to get off so that we could go to Sylva.  There, we could see the train and bus that were left on site after they filmed the train wreck in the movie "The Fugitive".

When we got to Cherokee we stopped for lunch.  While I don't usually post pictures of my food, I thought I would show a picture of my fry bread.

The Cherokee Museum was very interesting.  I had recently read "Trail of Tears" so it meant a great deal to me, if not to Dick.

After the museum we went to the casino.  The blackjack tables didn't have any room for both of us and since nobody seemed to be wearing masks we decided to just come back to the RV and get ready to leave tomorrow morning.  We plan to drive up to Natural Bridge, Virginia.
