We had an Asheville day today.  Our first stop was the Moogseum, but it wasn't open yet.  One block away was the Thomas Wolfe house.  This was the boarding house that his mother bought.  She soon realized that she couldn't run it from the family house so she moved there with Thomas, the youngest of the eight kids.

Portrait of him.

The parlor.

The kitchen.  Note the plumbing.  The house didn't have any to begin with.

One of two sleeping porches.  His mother would often put more than one in a bed.

One of (I think) three.  She would have up to 40 boarders.

Next we went to the Moogseum, but I couldn't take pictures inside.  I found out that I am not a good Theremin player.  They had a tutorial for playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and I totally failed!

Next stop was the Iron.  I haven't found out why it is there, maybe later I'll look that up.

On to a vinyl record pressing factory (It also had a restaurant and a bar.  The tour of the day had already happened and we decided that we could just look through the window and not go back tomorrow.

We seemed to be having a not very good day (although the weather was beautiful and I love Asheville).  Our next stop was a pinball museum but it wasn't going to be open for another hour and we had to start heading back to have a bite to eat before our parking meter ran out.  The museum did have lots of gnomes in the window, so of course I had to take some pictures !

We did have time for a quick look at the Basilica of Saint Lawrence.  Lighting didn't strike us when we went in, always a good thing when I go into a church.  I even lit a candle for a friend of mine.

Just a store window that I liked and then a book store (that I didn't have time to go into) with a great name.

Lunch was at Mellow Mushroom.  I had a great pizza, that we had for dinner too, and Dick had a meatball grinder.

When we got back I took a short walk on one of the camps trails.  We had walked on it yesterday and I wanted some pictures.  Someone had put several sculptures along the trail.

I want Dick to make one like this for our yard!

Some of the path.
